Christmas Wish List - Part 5

The Peace Money Can't Buy
We are obsessed with security. From smart locks to stock apps, we spend our lives trying to fortify our world against uncertainty. But no matter how thick the walls are, they can’t keep out a restless heart. In the conclusion of our series, Christmas Wish List, we discover the gift that no one asks for but everyone needs: The Gift of Peace.
This peace isn't found in a better alarm system or a fatter bank account; it is found in a Name. Immanuel.
Originally given as a sign to a terrified King Ahaz in the Old Testament, the name Immanuel ("God with us") reminds us that God’s presence is most real when our circumstances are most dire. Seven hundred years later, that promise became a Person. In Jesus, God didn't just send a message of hope—He moved into the neighborhood.
True peace isn't the absence of trouble; it’s the presence of the King. Whether you are walking through the "not-so-good" times or standing on the mountaintop, the promise remains: He will never leave you, and He will never forsake you. This Christmas, stop trying to secure your own future and rest in the One who is already with you.

Follow-Up Exercises
- The "Immanuel" Audit: Throughout the day, whenever you feel a spike of anxiety, pause and whisper the name "Immanuel." Remind yourself: "God is in this room, in this car, and in this conversation."
- Identify the "Assyria": King Ahaz trusted an earthly alliance (Assyria) instead of God. Identify one "earthly alliance" (money, a specific person, a habit) you are relying on for peace more than God. Practice surrendering that reliance in prayer this week.
- Scripture Meditation: Spend 5 minutes daily reading Isaiah 41:10. Visualize God's "righteous right hand" upholding you through your specific stresses this week.
