6. Unique Experiences While In Israel
Old Jerusalem at Night
Old Jerusalem at Night
During our stay at the Olive Tree Hotel (March 22-26), evenings after the daily tours are generally free, offering a perfect opportunity to explore the Old City on your own in small groups.

The Old City is just a short walk away—about 12-15 minutes to Damascus Gate (the closest entrance) or 18-20 minutes to Jaffa Gate. Venturing in at night reveals a great side of Jerusalem: the ancient walls, towers, and historic sites beautifully illuminated under the stars, creating a serene, peaceful, and breathtaking atmosphere. The streets transform into a quieter, more intimate space, away from the daytime crowds, allowing for reflective walks amid the glowing lights.

It's generally very safe, with low crime rates and police presence, but stick to well-lit main paths, avoid poorly lit alleys, and go in groups for added comfort. This is a chance to soak in the timeless beauty of the city after dark—don't miss it!
Kissing Camels
While camels aren't literally everywhere in Israel—they're most common in the Judean Deserts, as well as with Bedouin communities.  For a quirky, memorable moment, get up close—many tours allow gentle interactions, short walks, and even getting a kiss from these affectionate animals!  These encounters will make your Israel journey truly unforgettable.

Dead Sea Float
One of Israel's most surreal experiences is floating effortlessly on the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Its extreme salinity—about 10 times saltier than the ocean—creates such intense buoyancy that you bob on the surface like a cork, unable to sink even if you try.
Relax on your back, read a newspaper, or simply drift while gazing at the surrounding desert mountains.

The mineral-rich black mud is famous for its skin-benefiting properties—slather it on, let it dry, then rinse for that signature silky feel.
The calm, mirror-like water and therapeutic atmosphere make this a uniquely rejuvenating highlight of any Israel trip. Just remember: keep the water out of your eyes!
Baptism in the Jordan River
Getting baptized in the Jordan River is a profound, once-in-a-lifetime spiritual experience—even if you've been baptized before, many Christians choose a renewal immersion. Calm waters, shaded banks, and facilities with white robes for rent make it accessible and meaningful. It's more than a ritual—it's a powerful, emotional link to scripture that stays with you long after you leave Israel.  The cost for a robe rental and baptism certificate is about $15.
