Kingdom Parables Part 3 - The Wheat and the Weeds

The Parable of the Weeds shows us that God has sown good seed in the world, while the enemy, Satan, sows evil among it. Jesus explains that the wheat represents the children of God’s Kingdom, while the weeds represent those belonging to the evil one. Until the final harvest, both will grow together because only God can perfectly judge the human heart. God’s patience also gives people opportunity to repent and come to faith in Christ. Although evil is real and the enemy is active, evil cannot defeat or overthrow God’s purposes. A day of final judgment and separation is coming, when the righteous will enter God’s Kingdom and evil will be judged. Until then, believers are called to live honorably among the weeds by being faithful witnesses for Christ, making disciples, and loving God and their neighbors.
